Comment on BDO Deposit Accounts — Baka Maubos Imbes na Lumago by Nora

Hi alvin, the average daily balance (ADB) requirement is 2k, right? If you deposit 4k on the 15th and not withdraw it, your ADB would be:
4k x 17 days (july 15 to 31) = 68k
68k / 31 days = 2,193 pesos
2,193 is above 2k, meaning you complied with the ADB requirement (no penalty). Please check my calculation, and increase your deposit if you start depositing on the 16th or later. God bless too

Hi maybelene, processing time varies for everyone. Depends on no. and location of companies worked for, time to verify beneficiaries, current Pag-ibig workload, etc. Could take 2 months or more.

Hi Earl, ask the hospital if they can file your claim for you…because there’s no more direct filing with Philhealth, and you need some docs from the hospital. If the hospital refuses to file, you can try filing or making an appeal with Philhealth.

Hi richard, the death benefit is included in the provident benefit claim computation. The amount is either 6,000 pesos, or equal to the total provident benefit, whichever is lower.

Hi Emman, posting might take 1 week and balance updating might take 3 weeks. But don’t rely on my answer, as SSS processing time varies for everyone. Ask others too.

Hello,

I live in U.S. permanently, but I would like to open a checking account in one of the bank in the Philippines, do you think I can be able to do that? I have a property that I would like to sell and in that case, I would like to deposit the proceeds to this checking account with either Metro Bank or BDO and transfer the money to my account in U.S. Do you know what other documents the bank would require if I open a checking acct?

I’m just wondering and wanted to ask po.. What if not employed tlga at all.. how is the process of it?.. magkano po yung minumum contributions for it. Yung mom ko kasi pinapaapply ko for this cause she’s 53 years old na, at punan nlng yung buong taon ng isang hulugan para may hulog na sya sa sss. For her security din. She never work kasi.. Does it have the same process po?..

and then, panu po ba yung maternity benefits?.. I mean I have a contribution for a year po sa SSS at company ko po naghuhulog nun. I am wondering kung magkano po ba yung makukuha ko sa sss benefit ko since nakapagpasa nako ng MAT1 inaantay nlng namin yung due ko..

The company will shoulder my 2 months basic pay at irereemburse daw po sa SSS after ko manganak, kaya lang I worry of paying the company more than the benefits from SSS.. baka daw po sumobra yung ibigay ng company.. Magkano po ba for normal?!

I hope you understand. Thank you so much! :)

Hi Baby, if you meant opening your account in person here when you travel here, yes, I think you can open an account, but I think it would be easier opening an atm savings account with BDO or Metrobank. These banks usually approve checking account applications only from active clients or from those with referrals. Anyway, you can deposit your check into a savings account. Big banks here offer Direct Deposit accounts to US pensioners, so I’m assuming they’re accepting account applications from Filipinos who have immigrated. They’re accepting account opening from foreigners with ACRs. The usual requirements are 2 valid IDs, 1 ID photo, local address and phone no. Ask others too.
There’s a BDO remittance partner in Arlington, if you like to inquire if they’re offering Kabayan account opening:
DOLEX DOLLAR 700 Highlander Blvd., Suite 450 Arlington, TX 76015
Customer Service Center – 1.800.892.0210.

hi Charmaine, if your father is working, your mother can apply as non-working spouse. If not, your mother must think of a small business, like Avon, sari-sari store, buy-and-sell, insurance, etc. She cannot be an SSS member if she does not have a source of income. She must register as self-employed, and then start paying. http://sssphilippinesnotes.blogspot.com/2013/02/how-to-be-self-employed-sss-member.html
About your maternity benefit, your HR should be able to compute your benefit. There are examples in our other blog: http://sssphilippinesnotes.blogspot.com/2013/01/how-much-sss-maternity-benefit.html

Hi amador, I delayed replying to your SSS question because I needed to research. I thought before that the law of succession will prevail over the designated beneficiaries. Sadly, I found that what the SSS officer told you is true. If there are no primary and secondary beneficiaries, the designated beneficiaries (those in the member’s SSS records) can claim. I wrote a related post: http://www.workingpinoy.com/2014/07/hierarchy-of-sss-beneficiaries/
I even found a court case. But you can file your claim as a legal heir, if you feel it’s worth it. Ask others too
