Comment on Late Philhealth Payments — Can I Make Retroactive Payments? by Nora

Hi Lerry, I don’t know if Philhealth still is giving a grace period for loyal payors. If you like, you can bring all your receipts for the past 2 years, and then ask to pay for April to June. Ask for a grace period since you’re a loyal payor. I’m not sure though if they’re giving a grace period.

Hi thess, sad to say, they’ll no longer accept payments for Apr to June. But if you’ve paid for 2 years without fail, if you like, you can bring your receipts to Philhealth, and ask for grace period to pay Apr to June. But I’m not sure if they’re giving a grace period.

Hi dex, how much was your balance from May 1 to 28? Add your balances from May to May 31, then divide by 31. Is the result 10k or higher? If yes, then you maintained your account for the month of May. If less than 10, you did not maintain your account for the months of May and June, and your account was most likely closed on June 30. Check your balance via your atm to see if your account is still active. If you deposit on July 27, you must deposit a huge amount on July 27 to catch up with the required maintaining balance for the month of July. Maybe it’s better if you open a BDO atm account — it’s easier to maintain, as its maintaining balance requirement is only 2k. Enroll it in online banking, so you can see your balance anytime.

Hi Gilbert, the 300-peso deduction is a penalty for falling below your maintaining balance requirement. If your account is a passbook account, your maintaining balance requirement is 10,000. If it’s an atm account, it’s 2,000. The deduction is charged starting from the 2nd consecutive month of falling, and every month thereafter, until you restore your account. What should you do? If it’s a passbook account, you can close your account and open an atm account, as this is easier to maintain. If it’s an atm account, you can close your account, and open a BPI Easy Saver account — it does not require a maintaining balance, but you pay 5 pesos for every atm withdrawal and every balance inquiry. Paying the withdrawal fee is better than paying the 300-peso penalty.

Hi shobe, yes, first enter default PIN (can be 123456 or any 6 digits), then enter your new PIN, and then re-enter your new PIN. You should get a message that your PIN change is successful.

Hi Evelyn, instruct your family in the Philippines to submit copies of the documents that you have before the deadline. They should submit much earlier so that you have time to make an affidavit if it’s needed

Hi Car, yes, if your atm card has a Mastercard logo. The maximum is 10,000 pesos per atm withdrawal, up to a total of 50,000 pesos per day. Convert it to the currency where you are. Consider also the maximum limits of the bank you are using.

Hi adorina, sorry I’m not sure if Philhealth still gives a grace period for loyal payors. If you like, you can bring your past receipts and ask to pay for Apr to June. If unable to pay Apr to June, yes, you can pay for July to Sept.

Comment on Are You Sure You’re A Self-Employed SSS Member? by Nora

Hi Faith, you say you’re just a pineapple vendor, but you can be a fruit or vegetable stall business owner in the near future. I know someone who sold buko near the San Pedro boundary market, then later on, he and his wife were able to rent 2 stalls inside the San Pedro Town Center, one for vegetables and buko, and the other for groceries, and later on were able to buy their own house and vehicle.
About SSS registration: You register as self-employed. Bring your ID and barangay certification that you’re a pineapple vendor in your area. If you pay rent for your puesto, bring receipts. Fill up RS-1 form. Answer the SSS officer clearly. They’ll ask what you do to earn money, and how much you earn in a month. If you say 3,000, your monthly contribution will be 330. If 2,500, contribution is 275. Your father can also register if he’s not yet 60; better if he’s around 50.
