Hi Amycar, say Pag-ibig contribution. Write your Pag-ibig MID no. There’s no charge. It’s free. But if you’re a new member, and you were never an employed Pag-ibig member before, make your first payment at the branch nearest your residence or work. Bring your ID and any proof of your source of income.

Hi Monica, is your photo in your philhealth id? The best way is to approach the BDO teller, and ask if your IDs are enough. If there’s a long line at the higher-counter tellers, ask those in the lower counters.

Comment on Continuing SSS Membership Contributions for Overseas Filipinos by Nora

Hi Lyn, if your mom was previously an employed SSS member in the Phils, yes, your mom can continue her SSS payments without filing any paperwork. If she was self-employed, and did not file RS-1, it's better if she emails to SSS an accomplished OW-1 form with scans of her IDs. If she was previously an employed member, and she wants to increase her contributions to maximum or near maximum, she needs to email SSS a scan of signed SSS Contributions Payment form (sign the DECLARATION OF EARNINGS OF INDIVIDUAL PAYOR portion) and a scan of her contribution payment/remittance receipt. If she prefers not doing the paperwork, she can increase her contributions from month to month by up to 2 levels only, starting from 500 pesos (since she's OFW). Next will be 660, then 770 and so on. If she's 55 and older, she should increase by only 1 level after reaching 1,100.

Hi Rommel, thanks for your helpful info. Yes, $35 is indeed too much. Here's a list of BDO remittance partners in KSA. Some of these Saudi banks allow use of their online banking for transfers to the Phils if you have an account with them. But if your bank is SABB, their website says that you can apply for their SABB Visa Direct card and send to your Union Bank or Sterling Bank or EastWest Visa card.

We have a home loan with BDO but want to refinance it with another bank for a lower interest rate. A Statement of Account is required from BDO and I’m suprised that BDO charges a fee for that. I don’t see the logic on why BDO should charge a fee for a SOA. In the States, a borrower automatically gets a monthly Statement of Account even if you don’t request it but here, you have to pay for something that you are supposed to be getting on a monthly basis but don’t.

Hi Nora! I opened an ATM account in Metrobank last 2011 and I have not yet get the card until now. I still have the deposit slip. Last 2013, I received a letter from the branch operations officer of the bank and it says that my account will be dormant effective September 2013. What should I do? Should I ask my account to be active/reactivated or might have open another account? Thank you! :)

Hi elvera, if your account is Kabayan, and your last deposit 4 months ago was sent from abroad, your account should still be active, regardless of the balance.
If it’s not Kabayan, and it’s a regular passbook account, and you have 10,000 pesos or more in it, it’s active and free from penalty.
If it’s a regular passbook account with less than 10k balance, it could have been deducted with 2 monthly penalties already (300 pesos x 2).
